Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about EduConnect's Change of Status service.

How does the payment process work?
Step 1. Free Consultation: Book a free consultation to discuss your situation and confirm eligibility.

Step 2. Submit Your Application: Complete our application form and our team will contact you to collect documents and open your case.

Step 3. We Help File & Track: Once your case is fully prepared, you'll submit your I-539 to USCIS and monitor it through approval.

Total service fee: $800 (limited-time promo, normally $1,100). Government fees are paid separately directly to USCIS.
Are RFE responses really included at no extra charge?
Yes, 100%. If USCIS issues a Request for Evidence (RFE) on your case, EduConnect prepares and guides you through the full written response at no additional charge. This is built into your flat fee. Most consultants bill separately for RFEs. We don't.
How long does Change of Status take?
Standard USCIS processing takes approximately 4–6 months. Optional USCIS Premium Processing ($2,075 additional government fee) reduces the decision timeline to approximately 30 business days. We'll advise whether premium processing makes sense for your situation.
Can I change status from a B1/B2 tourist visa?
Yes. B1/B2 visitors are eligible to apply for Change of Status to F-1. However, USCIS may scrutinize applications filed shortly after entry. During your consultation, we'll assess your timeline and advise on the strongest approach.
Can I study while my application is pending?
It depends on your current visa type. B1/B2 holders generally cannot enroll in school until their Change of Status is approved. Holders of other visa types (F-2, H-4, etc.) may be able to begin studying once their application is pending and their program start date arrives. We'll advise you specifically.
Can I travel outside the U.S. while my application is pending?
No. Leaving the U.S. while your Change of Status application is pending is treated as abandonment. If you need to travel, you would need to apply for an F-1 visa at a U.S. consulate abroad and re-enter on that visa instead.
What if my B1/B2 status expires during processing?
If your I-539 was filed before your authorized stay expired, you are in a "period of authorized stay" while USCIS processes your case, meaning you can remain in the U.S. legally. Filing before your status expires is critical; we'll make sure your case is submitted on time.
Online vs. paper filing; which do I use?
If filing alone (no dependents), you may file online for $420. If you have co-applicants, a spouse or children, paper filing is required at $470. We'll confirm the right method for your situation.
What is EduConnect's success rate?
EduConnect maintains a 99.5% approval rate on Change of Status cases. Our thorough document review, proactive RFE handling, and experienced team set your case up for success from day one. Read our client reviews on Google.
What school will I be admitted to?
We work with a network of SEVP-certified schools to find the best fit for your goals and schedule. During your consultation we'll discuss programs, costs, location preferences, and English proficiency requirements.
